NEW YORK CITY (WTHR) - A four-year-old New York girl brought crack cocaine home from her day care, thinking it was a classmate's tooth.

Sabrina Straker told NBC 4 New York her daughter brought several vials home from the day care in the Bronx, telling her mom a classmate had given her his tooth. But Straker knew what was in the vials was not teeth.

Police at a local precinct told her it was crack cocaine.

Her daughter, who had been acting hyper, then told her mother she had put one of the "teeth" in her mouth, tasting it at the request of her friend.

“We kept saying, ‘Why are you so hyper today, Serenity? Normally, you think she has a lot of sugar or something like that at school,” Straker told NBC 4.

The girl was rushed to the hospital, but has since recovered. She hasn't, however, returned to the day care, which has yet to comment on the situation to NBC 4.

Police are still investigating.
